Monocromi for Naples
Prologue…
It was my most important solo exhibition, the one at the PAN Museum in Naples. Truly driven by an enthusiasm shared by my former curator, Bellamy Pistiglione, I created Emotional Rescue: 10 works, 10 aspects of Naples, a unique, complex, and layered city.
The Exhibition “Monocromi per Napoli: emotional rescue”…
After my first, wonderful, experience and reading in Florence, which transcended into a wild Aeolian foray, my gaze, with the Emotional Rescue project, continues its itinerant investigation across the landscapes of Italy, arriving at the PAN | Palazzo delle Arti Napoli on May 27, 2011, with the exhibition Monocromi per Napoli.
An unmissable stop on a personal journey that, more than a geographical one, recounts my intense inner exploration: an installation that documents the city of Naples, a universal icon par excellence, and simultaneously reproduces ten symbolic places, subverting the most canonical and traditional interpretation through a use of color that, for my part, leaves no room for uncertainty: petrol blue for the former Ilva in Bagnoli, white for the Chiostro in San Martino, vermilion for Castel dell’Ovo, purple for Rosario di Palazzo in the Spanish Quarter, brick red for Palazzo Mastelloni, dull gold for San Gennaro, black for Maschera, dark emerald for the Centro Direzionale, midnight blue for Notturno, livid for Vela in Scampia.
